In America in the beginning, the performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the category of child prodigies. It was an innate trait for a girl from Irish descent, who was surrounded in the beginning by gifted relatives and parents. Maureen arrived in this nurturing haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as held shares of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons is the second child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen did well in sports and loved rough games. Her ability to perform was the perfect match for her love of sports. That was apparent when she was awarded each Feis for drama and theater that Ireland had to provide. At age fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
